Proverbs 18:21 GW
The words we speak are packed with power. The Bible has tons of verses about the power of our words and how we need to watch what we say, and how we deal with our circumstances need the same attention. Your circumstances may be a result of self-infliction or a scheme of the devil, but whichever it is, you will have to learn how to speak positive regardless of how you feel. Feelings come and go, but your words are final once they are released from your mouth. Talking negatively about your situation is only going to make it worse and make it last longer.
Use your mouth to praise and worship God in the midst of the problem. Speak faith filled words that get your angels moving instead of keeping them in park. Psalms 103:20 states that angels harken to the voice and Word of the Lord. God left you His Word for you to use it to your benefit. If Jesus only spoke what He heard His Father say, how much more do we need listen to the voice of the Lord and say only what He tells us to say, especially dealing with our circumstances.
Whatever issue you’re having, the Bible has a Word for you to speak regarding it. If someone asks you how you’re dealing with it, instead of venting and talking about how bad the situation is, simply say, “God is working on it.” In this way, you are speaking in faith and not out of doubt, and you’re putting God in charge of the situation. The less you speak about your problems and the more you talk about God and His power, the less problems you will have. You’ll be magnifying God instead of the problem.
Romans 4:17 says to speak those things that are “not” as though they “were.” If you’re in debt, call yourself “debt free”; if you’re sick, call yourself “healed”; if you’re depressed, call yourself “happy.” Use your mouth to call into existence what you want to see happen. If you want your situation to change and make the devil mad in the process, start by changing what comes out of your mouth!
Meditation Scripture (s):
- Do everything without complaining and arguing (Philippians 2:14 NLT)
- Take control of what I say, O LORD, and guard my lips. (Psalms 141:3 NLT)
- I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. (Mark 11:23 NLT)
- As it is written: I have appointed you to be the father of many nations. So Abraham is our father in the eyes of God in whom he had faith, the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that don’t exist into existence. (Romans 4:17 CEB)
*Note: My hope and prayer is that after you read this and meditate on the scriptures that you will get such a revelation that will spark further study on your own. The Bible has so much more to say that what I’ve included. There’s nothing better than studying the Word of God for yourself*
