How to Spiritually Change Your Circumstances Part 9: Trust in God Alone

trustIt is better to trust in the Lord than to depend on people (Psalms 118:8 GNT).

When you are in a bind, who is the first person you go to for help? What is your first response in the situation? The quicker that you realize that God is the only one who can handle your problems, the stronger your patience in trials and your trust in God will get. Now, God can use people to get your miracle to you, but you must realize is that it’s God working through the person on your behalf. Always acknowledge that any miracle or breakthrough that you get comes from God and God alone because He is good and He cares for you.

People will always disappoint you because they are human and human beings are flawed individuals, but God will never fail you. Once you know the character and nature of God, the better off you will be in beginning to trust and rely on Him more. Don’t even trust in yourself to try to figure out your problems because it’s probably because of “you” in the first place that the problem even exists. No human being on Earth can match God’s infinite wisdom, strength, and might. Don’t trust in the government, your family, your job, or your friends to help you in times of trouble. Pray to God for your provision and let Him decide how He wants to get it to you and in His perfect timing. God is a jealous God and He will not tolerate divided loyalty. Either you are going to fully trust in Him alone, or you’re going to trust the people in the world. Why not trust solely in the One who created and owns everything? He can do more for you in one millisecond than you or anyone else could ever do for you in their lifetime. I know it’s tempting to quickly ask someone for a loan, advice, or direction when things get bad, but the gifts, direction, and wisdom of God are free and you’re entitled to it because you are an heir to the Kingdom. When you go to God first, what you are literally saying is, “Lord, I’m in a bind and I know that there is no one that can help me but You. I need your provision, direction, and wisdom in this situation. With Your help, I am going to wait patiently for you to move in this situation. I praise and thank you in advance for proving yourself to be God in my life and in my circumstances.” A confession like that backed up with strong faith gets God’s attention and He begins to work and answer your prayers.

If you’ve been used to going to people for Help, you won’t break the habit overnight, but that’s where the grace and strength of God comes in. Ask Him to help you to break the habit of depending on people for answers and to help you put your total trust and confidence in Him. The world and the people in it are as unstable as the wind to say the least, but God is faithful and in Him you will find freedom and stability. Give your problems to God and let Him and Him alone take care of you.

Meditation Scripture (s):

  • Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully (1 Peter 5:7 AMP)
  • Some trust in chariots and others in horses, but we depend on the LORD our God (Psalms 20:7 NET)
  • We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help (2 Chronicles 20:12 NLT)
  • My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! (Psalms 121:2 NLT)
  • Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall (Psalms 55:22 NLT)

*Note: My hope and prayer is that after you read this and meditate on the scriptures that you will get such a revelation that will spark further study on your own. The Bible has so much more to say that what I’ve included. There’s nothing better than studying the Word of God for yourself*
