You will rest without a worry and sleep soundly.
Proverbs 3:24 CEV
Out of the 24 hours that we are given in a day, we are up for about 16 of them, and then we need a minimum of eight hours to rejuvenate. We cannot be productive for God if we are burnt out and exhausted all the time. More importantly, we cannot live a healthy life if our body does not get a chance to recoup from daily activities. Not only does your body need to rest, but your mind also needs a break. It needs to be refreshed on a daily basis (see Romans 12:2). If anxiety, frustration, and fear are taking charge of your life, it’s time to turn your troubles over to God. Whatever keeps you up at night, hand it over to Him and relax. God never sleeps because He’s too busy taking care of His children (see Psalms 121:4). There’s no need for both you and God being up all night. Once you realize that He is the only One who can take care of your situation, only then will you lay down in peace. This is what the phrase “sleeping soundly” means…letting go and letting God handle it!
God knew the importance of sleep, so you can be assured that while you are resting, He’s up taking care of your business. Staying up all night worrying about something you can’t change only adds more pressure and frustration to your life. Stop living in anxiety and worry (see 1 Peter 5:7) because it’s no way to live. Give up your problems and allow your body get refreshed for a new day. We need to learn to live in the rest of God. He’s provided mental, emotional, and physical rest for His children, and it all starts with letting go and acting in faith. Rest, relax, and wake up giving God the praise and glory for handling what only He can handle, even if you haven’t seen the solution just yet. Every night should be a peaceful and restful night because you are safe in His arms, and He’s working out everything for your good. I love what Mary C. Crowley said, “every evening I turn my worries over to God. He’s going to be up all night anyway.” Make a decision that tonight will be the night that you start to enjoy your rest and allow yourself to sleep soundly.
