The Lord said to Moses, “I’m going to send you food from heaven like rain. Each day the people should go out and gather only what they need for that day. In this way I will test them to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.
The Lord commands us to live one day at a time. You can’t change yesterday or tomorrow; you can only live in the present. He is our ultimate Provider and He knows everything that we will ever want and need. There are plans in action right now for our provision for things we don’t even know that we need yet. We need to surrender our way of getting things and learn to trust God with our lives. When we get involved, we usually halt God’s plan and make the situation worse. There is no need to be worried about daily necessities because Matthew 6:8 tells us that God already knows about it. Life is too short to be anxious and frustrated all of the time. If we are honest with ourselves, we don’t even really know what we need…we just know what we think we “want.” We need to rely heavily on the One who knows everything because ultimately, He is the only One who can get it to us.
God gave the Israelites manna one day at a time. Why? He wanted them to be totally dependent on Him for their every need. If they collected any more than what was needed for that day, it would spoil and rot. They were to seek God every morning for their provision and we are no different from the Israelites. God will give us what we need for each day if we seek Him. It may not be what you had in mind, but if it’s from God, it’s exactly what you need to get through the day. Start trusting God and rely on His provision. God is usually never early, but He’s always on time. Start living by faith and operating in patience. It makes living life and trusting God so much easier. It makes for a stress free life, and less stress is something we all need. God will never let His children lack any good thing (see Psalms 34:10). You just have to make up your mind to believe it, receive it, and rely solely on Him. There is no better provision on this Earth than provision that comes from Heaven.
