Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them].
One of the many definitions of the word “gracious” means to be good to someone. The gist of Isaiah 30:18 is that the Lord is longing and waiting to be good to you—not just anyone, but YOU! You are His beloved child, and what parent doesn’t want to be good to their own children? God has so many blessings in store for you that are mind blowing, and He’s just waiting to give them to you. Here’s the key…whatever you “think” you want, God has something better in mind for you; so if you pray and God says “no,” just know that something better is coming. This is the goodness of the Lord. He loves you so much that He wants to give you something better than what your mind can conceive (see Ephesians 3:20).
Are you receptive for the blessings that the Lord wants to bestow on you? Are you really ready for all the goodness that the Lord has for you? Every day you wake up, you should say, “Lord, your Word says that you are looking for someone to be good to, and I just want to say here I am. Whatever you want to give me, I am receptive and ready to give you the praise and glory for it.” Place yourself to be in position for the blessings. How do I get in position, you might ask? Seek the Lord, get your mind ready, open your heart, and praise God before you even receive it. Let God know you are ready for His blessings!
Isn’t it good to know that God wants to be good to you? Some people have the misconception that God is just sitting in Heaven angry and waiting to pass judgment, but that is far from the truth. He is actually looking and longing to be good to someone, and He has His eyes on you. He wants to heal you, show you compassion, mercy, forgiveness, and give you His unconditional love. Everything that He has is yours, and He’s waiting to give it to you if you just position and humble yourself. Don’t feel guilty about asking God for what you want, and surely don’t be ashamed for the blessings that He gives you. Children of God are blessed beyond what the world can comprehend. God is good all the time, and He wants to be good to you! Graciously throw up your hands and proclaim to your Heavenly Father, “here I am Lord…bless me!”
