Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].
1 Peter 5:7 AMP (emphasis added)
Another way we add stress to our lives is by spending countless hours trying to figure out what only God has the answer to. This doesn’t mean that when a situation arises that you just sit and do nothing, but what it does mean is that you leave the outcome to God. Your job is to do what you can do in the natural, but most importantly, do what you can do in the spiritual realm as well. This includes praying, speaking God’s Word on the matter, seeking God’s face, etc. Believe it or not, operating in the spiritual realm produces more results than anything you can do in the natural.
The perfect activity to do is write down every care that you have—everything that bothers you and consumes your time—on separate sheets of paper. Once it’s written down, ball them up and throw them in the trash. Any time a care comes up, write it down and throw it away. When you look to see how much baggage is actually in the trash, that’s what’s been holding you back and causing you stress on many different levels. Today’s scripture says to cast your care, once and for all. One of the definitions for cast is to “throw (something) forcefully in a specified direction.” You are throwing it all on God. Don’t try to take it back and figure it out if you think God is taking too long. Let it go…ONCE AND FOR ALL.
You have an ongoing, open invitation from God Himself to come to Him if you are weary and carry heavy burdens (see Matthew 11:28). He gives you permission to put all of your burdens on Him (see 1 Peter 5:7). Who in their right mind have two open invitations to be stress-free and decline to take it? And the best part of the deal is not only will God handle it if you give it to Him, He does it because He loves you, cares about you, and watches over you. You can’t get a better deal than that!
I’m a realistic person, and I know in theory, this is quite simple; but in reality, it can be hard to do. I know from personal experience that it’s easy to cast a care, but it’s even more difficult not to take it back on when results aren’t seen quick enough. James 1:6-7 (NLT) states: But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” Here’s how this scripture applies to the scenario. Once you cast your care, you’re showing faith because you believe that God can handle it…that’s why you cast it in the first place. When you decide to take it back, you are now operating in doubt and unbelief. You are now putting faith in you and your way, thus having divided loyalty. You are telling God that you can do it quicker and better, and since that’s the case, God will let you do it. If you want to see miraculous results, do what 1 Peter 5:7 says and cast your care…everything, once and for all. Leave it all in His hands. You can go on enjoying your life stress-free while God works on your problems.
