Music to God’s Ears

We say so many things that are displeasing to God (complaining, grumbling, gossiping, etc.), that it’s time we change our lip service to align it with God’s Word. When we sing words of praise, show our gratitude, and worship God, it makes Him smile. Voicing how thankful we are is music to God’s ears. Usually when we pray, our prayers include a long laundry list of things we want and need, and sometimes we forget to acknowledge God for who He is, instead of what He can do for us.  Let’s switch up how we pray and enter into God’s presence. Instead of “I need” and “I want,” let’s strip off our selfish nature and invite God into our lives for who He is. This allows you to lose sight of yourself and let God indwell your inner most being. This lets God know you actually want and need Him in your life. Changing your confessions will help you to spiritually grow in God. Make God smile by sending music to His ears. This confession list is not all-inclusive, but it’s a great starting point. As you grow, mature, and fall in love with God, your list will grow and become more personal and intimate.

Heavenly Father I enter into your presence just to say with all sincerity:

  • I accept you as my Lord and Savior (Rom. 10:9-10)
  • Lord, let your will be done and not mine (Luke 22:42)
  • Lord help me to decrease so you can increase (John 3:30)
  • I believed you are always working on my behalf no matter what it feels or looks like (John 5:17)
  • Lord,I just want more of you (Ps. 63:1, 6-8)
  • Lord, I am nothing without you and I can do nothing without you so I need you to help me! (John 15:5; Ps. 30:10)
  • I am completely content and satisfied in you (Phil. 4:11; John 6:35)
  • Lord, change me and make me into what you want me to be (Ps. 51:10)
  • Lord, I trust only you (Prov. 3:5-6)
  • I will serve only you all the days of my life (1 Sam. 12:24; Josh. 24:15)
  • Lord, thank you for my past, present, and future blessings! (Ps. 100:4)
  • Lord, I love you will all of my being (Deut. 6:5)
  • I submit myself to You and Your will for my life (James 4:8)
  • I humble myself before you (1 Pet. 5:6)
  • I surrender all (Ps. 25:1 & Matt. 16:24-25)
  • I will put my hope and trust in You (Ps. 71:5)
  • I will worship you with my lifestyle (John 4:24)
  • I will be still and wait for You (Ps. 37:7)
  • I am making a conscious decision to be led and live by the Spirit. I am crucifying my flesh (Gal. 5:16-17, 24-25)
  • Lord, I recognize I am not smart enough to run my own life (Prov. 14:12)

Action Step:

Start to say these confessions in your personal prayer time with God. Voice these multiple times a day. Let God know you need Him in order to get through the day. Worship His Being and His majesty.
