Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.
Acts 10:34 NIV (emphasis added)
You should never judge God for what He does for someone. You don’t know what that person had to do to get what they have, nor is it any of your business. God does not have favorites—He deals with all of His children accordingly. If you are not willing to put in the work God is calling you to do, you have nothing to say about how other people are getting blessed and your lack thereof. God has a different way of blessing His children, but He blesses us all the same and at different times. He might supernaturally bless someone, whereas you might have to take the long road to get your blessing. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to get what you asked for; it just means that God has a different avenue for you namely to develop your spiritual growth and deepen your relationship with Him. There is something to be learned on the way to your blessing. Treasure the journey and keep your eyes and mouth on what God is doing for you and through you. How you act in times of waiting has a lot to do with the timing of your breakthrough.
It’s best to just set your mind to believe that God knows what’s better for you than you do. Everybody’s needs are not the same, nor are their journeys, nor are their blessings. If God can do anything for anybody, He can and will do it for you if it’s in His will. This is the mentality that you need to start to develop. If you start to trust God’s timing and His promises, especially what He has personally promised you, what other people get and how they get it won’t even faze you. To sweeten the pot, God might even bless someone with something that you’ve been praying for just to see how you will react. Will you be genuinely happy for the person and allow God to continue to work on your blessings, or will you be jealous and stop God from working altogether? The more you get into jealousy and greed over what God has given someone else, He won’t work on your behalf. Learn to be patient during the process and give God thanks every chance you get whether you see and feel Him working or not! Jesus said in John 14:7 NLT, “‘My Father is always working, and so am I.’” If you know and believe this, you won’t be concerned about if God is working on the things that you’ve asked Him for because your faith will confirm that He is. You are no different from anyone else. God is the only One who truly knows what you need and when you need it, so let Him do what He does best in His own way.
Action Step: Learn to be patient and thankful while you wait for your breakthroughs.
Meditation Scripture (s):
God treats everyone the same. (Rom 2:11 NIVR)
But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones. (Isaiah 30:18 MSG)
